  • I hope it was worth it
Oh don't do this. A brigade of LA apologists will swoop in to explain the present value of money from investopedia.com and how they actually really only signed Ohtani for about tree fiddy in today's cash. Source: 5 months ago
  • BUY AND HODL FOR THE LONG TERM!!!
I found out that a penny stock typically refers to a stock that trades for less than $5.00 a share. If you would like more information on penny stocks. Please go to investopedia.com There is more info about penny stocks on this link. Source: 6 months ago
  • Playing the HSA game wrong...
I've found investopedia.com to be a pretty good reference for a lot of financial topics, especially for introductory overview level stuff. They even include footnotes for more definitive (but often harder to read) references. Here's their article on HSAs, and one for High Deductible Health Plans (the only type of insurance that qualifies for contributing to an HSA). Source: 6 months ago

  • Should I walk away?
I suggest making your account a Roth IRA. I'll let others explain about Roth IRA's. They are very popular. You can read about them on investopedia.com, wikipedia and many other places on line. Source: 11 months ago

  • Ask HN: Why are paywalled articles on HN mostly available on an archive link?
    (1) Technically, I think that site works by identifying itself as the Google webcrawler and seeing the full-text version that many sites would like to have indexed. (2) There's the question of why that site isn't taken down (or how it pays its bills) and my guess is this: In the 2000s it was an open secret that you could read the news on most sites like The New York Times with the username and password... - Source: Hacker News / 17 days ago

  • Christmas Day menu ideas
This pot roast with winter root vegetables (I use rutabaga instead of celery root, but any root veggies are perfect) No sides needed other than bread and/or maybe some noodles. If you want a green vegetable, track down a whole stalk of brussels sprouts and roast them. Recipe is paywalled on epicurious.com and you can no longer paste links from 12 ft ladder, but you can access yourself through it https://12ft.io/. Source: 5 months ago

  • Open Thread: Weekend Edition #50 (Dec 2023)
I've never had an issue with a paywall on their website so no idea but you can try opening it via 12ft or Archive. Source: 6 months ago
