You could also look at https://imitate.email Similar idea to mailtrap but has a web widget so that you can embed it in the projects you’re building, improving the UX for devs and testers. (Disclaimer: It’s mine!). - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: Who needs beta testers? (February 2023)
Https://imitate.email Project Description: an email testing tool for devs and testers. Provides a “fake” SMTP server, a web app and an embedded web “widget” for seeing test emails inside the app you’re building. To be tested: If I were to be specific, we’ve had a few people sign up but never actually try it out. I’d like feedback on the onboarding process/website to see how to make it easier to get... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: Those making $0/month or less on side projects – Show and tell
Imitate Email: https://imitate.email A little tool for testing out email flows as you build/test apps - comes with an embedded widget so you don't have to context switch (see https://imitate.email/demo) for example. Earns nothing - spent far too much time researching chameleons, finding and, thanks to AI, creating Chameleon pictures :-). - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

  • What’s really going on with mail?
Since this is node subreddit, I would suggest you use nodemailer. You can create a free account on https://ethereal.email to test with, then when you are ready to go, sign up with whichever transactional mail service you choose (there will likely be a nodemailer extension for it, or it will just print vide SMTP creds to add to nodemailer) and update the config in your app. Source: 11 months ago
  • What am I missing about embedded email images and Nodemailer?
Almost positive the path to the file is correct. I tried with the code you see in the link and also tried specifying the absolute path and neither worked. I tried in mailtrap and I also tried with ethereal.email. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Use Netlify Functions to Send Email Notifications
If you want to see the messages being caught, then instead of creating a test account in the function, go to Ethereal and click Create Ethereal Account. Then plug the username and password in. You can then visit the inbox for that account and see everything that was caught. - Source: dev.to / almost 3 years ago
  • Strapi CMS Notes
Be sure to grab the config from your test email account, or use: https://ethereal.email. - Source: dev.to / almost 3 years ago
