Readwise Reviews

  1. Great help to review books

I imported my kindle highlights, as many others. Now I daily review some highlights (thanks to a dashboard, I am motivated). And where I didn't create highlights, as I only listened to the audiobooks, I get the highlights from others. It also allows to create beautiful quotes. It adds the book cover and matches quote and background with colours found on the book title! Really nice!

  • Amazon’s new Kindle Paperwhite adds bigger screen, longer battery life and USB-C
There's also the excellent ebook-convert command line tool as part of Calibre which can be used to convert between the formats[1], I use it convert HN content to Kindle e-book for my https://hntokindle.com. • Digital Minimalism: What are the alternative to screen time?
Try printed news papers instead of news apps or sites, Apart from addressing your goals of Digital Minimalism the printed newspapers often have robust editorial practices if the publishing house has been in existence for say >100 years. > Kindle might be OK In case you want to read HN on Kindle too, I got you covered[1]. • The Middle East is running out of water, and parts of it becoming uninhabitable
I read HN on Kindle[1], So low bloat websites like these are always a pleasure to read on Kindle's forever experimental browser. The websites needn't be text only, Reducing useless elements like Techcrunch's content wrap can go a long way to improve readability and accessibility. • FEATURE REQUEST: Get notes without logging in
I'm between apps at the moment! I would have used Notion except it wasn't possible to use the app on an e-ink screen. I need an app I can compose a synopsis on at the same time as export Kindle highlights to using https://readwise.io/, which narrows the options. I'm looking at Logseq at the moment. • Pocket: It gets worse the more you use it
Very much agree that Pocket has gotten worse as I've used it over the years. It's so bad I've mostly moved to the much better Readwise (https://readwise.io/). I'd be fully over if they actually supported a decent export (see below). It's sad because I'm probably in the 99th percentile of Pocket users in terms of usage and am happily paying them for Premium. I can't remember a significant improvement to Pocket in 2... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • What’s the best way to take notes while reading?
I tend to read highlight and annotate using a Kindle, and subscribe to https://readwise.io/ to transfer my notes to the web. I would like to have the workflow to be able to write up summaries of books, if only for my own reference. At the moment reading my notes is like reading a book in itself. Source: 10 months ago
  • How to take notes on technical books?
Some of the things I am doing include highlighting using a Kindle, and with a subscription to https://readwise.io/ downloading those highlights to my laptop. It's possible to automatically orgnanise them into chapters and sections. Source: 10 months ago
  • Looking for an app that will help me see my notes again.
If it syncs with whatever notes app you're using Readwise might suit your needs. Source: 11 months ago
