You can still get it done without insurance, it's just really expensive. It will be thousands of dollars cheaper to get insurance for a year or so and have the surgery covered than to try and pay for it out of pocket, so it's worth maybe getting insurance. Given that this is an online platform and that they have to optimize the analysis, many scans will be done quickly, or "messed up", which means that an anti-virus on virustotal could not detect anything, whereas an anti-virus on a private computer would.
