So it definitely happens on the HBO Max app from the play store, but does NOT happen when I stream from play.hbomax.com in fullscreen...weird stuff...but also I don't remember ever seeing anything about a 480p limit from streaming apps, and the HBO Max app is definitely higher resolution than that, it looks exactly the same from the app to the website...thanks for the tip though, I guess I'll just use the websites... I have a bunch of Sonos speakers and hooked them all up to a Mac running Airfoil (https://rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/). It isn't perfect and audio occasionally de-syncs or a speaker drops out. On a dedicated wireless channel playing a local source I imagine it would be pretty solid.
