Not all games support it, and best bet is online-fix for the games that support it or LogMeIn Hamachi to emulate a LAN via VPN for the games that support that functionality. I could be mistaken, so I am welcome to any corrections just don't be an a** about it to the more experienced who know better ways. Source: about 1 year ago
There isn't something that is a 100% safe, I have used it now for over 2 years to play with my friends without any hiccups or anything suspicious. And sign up with a temp mail if you dont want to give your real email to them. This is the one that I use Log me in hamachi . Look it up if you want to be sure, and you can find alternatives. Bitmask (version 1.1.2): Encrypted communication for mere mortals(superheroes welcome, too). Source: about 2 years ago
Paid subscription service, seems to be of good quality. Although I've never actually tried it, I've been hearing that the people behind it may be doing some shady business. The Android app is based on Bitmask. I cannot seem to find the source code for the app, the repository link on F-Droid just links here, which isn't even for it. Source: over 2 years ago
Which VPN do you use, out of curiosity? For me, the Calyx VPN app drains a substantial amount of battery, even with the 'Save battery' toggle on, so I can't really use it for extended periods. I am willing to bet Riseup VPN has the same problems, because they're both built on the same foundation (BitMask). Source: over 2 years ago
