  • Meta seeks to dismiss Cambridge Analytica lawsuit
Over the years there has been a lot of discussion on the CA topic, way too much to list here in "Related" format, so here is an Algolia link if you need a refresher: https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&query=Cambridge%20Analytica&sort=byPopularity&type=story. - Source: Hacker News / 2 days ago
  • From Steampunk to Solarpunk (2008)
I first heard of Solarpunk from the Imaginary Worlds podcast: https://www.imaginaryworldspodcast.org/episodes/solarpunk-the-future Which I prompted me to post the Wikipedia link 4 years ago, several others posted similar links prior to that, and others have posted interesting links hear too: https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=3&prefix=false&query=solarpunk&sort=byDate&type=story. - Source: Hacker News / 5 days ago
  • Patrick Breyer and Pirate Party Lose EU Parliament Seats
I will deeply deeply having someone so well connected to such incredibly complex contemporary digital rights issues in a place of power. Patrick Breyer's work in advocating & sharing what's going on has been such an incredibly high form of service, has illuminated such a dark & scary part of governance, and it's hard to imagine who else in the world is going to step up & be the light in Patrick's absence. Patrick,... - Source: Hacker News / 4 days ago
  • Germany trials the four-day workweek: "Free time is invaluable"
    > Do you have any evidence that this is the case for everyone at every company no matter what? Of course not, you are asking for the impossible. But we have evidences that 4 day week boosts productivity at least in some settings. If you are interested in the topic, look up "4 day week productivity" on a web search engine, or "4 day week" / "4 day workweek" on HN [1] if you want previous discussions about... - Source: Hacker News / 4 days ago

  • Feeling discouraged over workload
Wait til you get to CS-330 I'm taking it rn, definitely the hardest class I've ever taken. Also, with that many readings, consider using naturalreaders.com That's what I use for the majority of the readings, I set the WPM at like 230 or so and just follow along, because I read incredibly slow, but can understand it and get through it way faster if I listen to it. This resource has saved me a ton of time so far! Source: about 2 years ago
  • college tips?
Invest in software like naturalreaders.com that will read your assignments out loud. I'm sure there are better versions than this, but it's the one I use. It lets you set the speed and follow along, which is helps SO MUCH when you're dealing with dry boring material. You can even put your class notes in there and it will read them out loud to help you with memorization. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Long story, but unbelievable. Unless you're a professor, then it's totally believable.
I wrote my entire explanation of WHY I am having them do the assignment. Please note that I also included a link to naturalreaders.com and told them that because this was so important that if they had trouble reading long text (and these instructions are not that long) to use the text-to-speech function. • What useful unknown website do you wish more people knew about?
Upload text and documents or convert to mp3 to listen to anywhere anytime. Bored of reading everything? Upload the text on this site and it will convert it in mp3 file. Really good one in my persoanl opinion Https://naturalreaders.com. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Trying the L-R method; any idea where I can find dual language copies of novels?
TL = target language, in your case, Spanish. I've been doing a lot of L-R--but as Ryan says, just with Spanish text/audio. I can recommend these sites: openlibrary.org (free to sign up for/use), librosdemario, holaebook, and lelibros.online. I then use the Google Read&Write extension to read the text to me if it's online or naturalreaders.com if it's a download. Good luck! Source: about 3 years ago
