I'm not a producer, but I am a journalist and publicist who has been on both ends of PR. I'm sure sites like linkfire are great and can take a lot of pressure of, but if you are independent, I always advocate for traditional PR and outreach - simply emailing! In my experience it can be very difficult to get even decent scans of many paintings. I've had a bit of luck with wikiart.org on occasion. The ARC also has some serviceable images.
