  I run one. I built an iMessage-like frontend to it using plain JS and a Python websocket backend. I mostly just use it for curiosity and playing with different prompts.   Agreed. Gpt4all[1] offers a similar 'simple setup' but with application exe downloads, but is arguably more like open core because the gpt4all makers (nomic?) want to sell you the vector database addon stuff on top. • 1) That's why you should avoid using proprietary software. Nobody can screw around with your SD running locally with all your settings 2) A photographer also can't take photos without a camera, so luddites should really get down off their high horses "oh i don't need tools to create"

  ChatGPT specifically is at a dumb stage. It works so hard to sound smart that it doesn't care enough to actually be smart. ChatGPT 4 will flat out make stuff up to try to please the audience. But versions 5, 6 and beyond will be much better. And there are bots today that do a much better job, like Chatsonic that combines the power of ChatGPT with a custom engine that tries to validate information through Google... • I just got access to Bing's ai and I already hate it. chatGPT is way more thorough. Bing gave up on me almost immediately.

  The biggest thing people are complaining about is the restrictiveness and its inability to look online. You.com can look online and may be less restrictive (I don't think it's weaker, it just approaches problems with a different angle, so it can't really write long 5 paragraph essays), and you also don't have to log in.
