Though FWIW my real answer, if you were asking this as a practical question rather than an educational exercise, would be to find some existing standard encryption program and use that. I'm coming from the perspective of a smaller-medium sized business, so something really comprehensive/expensive like Zylo or Bettercloud might be overkill or simply not affordable unless you are enterprise-sized.
