It's definitely not a realistic replacement for modded Minecraft in general, since that's really hundereds of games and Mineclone only aims to replace Minecraft itself. For modded, I'm not sure what the answer is. Even most third party clients/servers that are compatible with vanilla Minecraft don't support Forge mods. If your computer doesn't have enough RAM to run a server and play at the same time, you can host a server online for free at falixnodes.net. Be sure to change the "server.properties" settings to allow cracked clients as well. The downside to this hosting is that the RAM is limited and depending on how many servers are currently using their resources, but the amount of RAM you get is still better than the other...
