GitHub Sponsors was launched five years ago. For several years it was available only in a limited number of countries, but two years ago I could also join. I got a few sponsors, but nothing substantial came out of it. There are lots of places where all you have to do is upload your music, and the website will distribute/release it across a ton of platforms (Youtube, Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music etc.) I've used a place called DistroKid to do it, but there are a few others out there that do the same kind of deal.
