Instead of use of Blockchain you could also use Freenet . The only bad thing here data could be lost, but mostly only data is lost when not used. This could be used to auto purge forks that most people dislike. Which VPN do you use, out of curiosity? For me, the Calyx VPN app drains a substantial amount of battery, even with the 'Save battery' toggle on, so I can't really use it for extended periods.
