  • I've never used FreeBSD and have some questions
Aside from being UNIX based, what similarities does it share with Linux? Both have monolithic kernels. Source based build systems are offered (ports, which are like the portage system on Gentoo) as well as binary build systems (pkg, which is like apt, yum, pacman, etc.) Both offer a lot of free software, though more licenses are compatible with FreeBSD like CDDL, which is not compatible Linux. Both let you... Source: 5 months ago
  • FreeBSD turns 30 today!
There's no mention of a birthday on their site, and its footer says 1995-2023. That must be just the site, because Wikipedia tells me FreeBSD's initial release was indeed, but not quite, 30 years ago, November 1st 1993. Still no birthday. Source: 11 months ago
  • Computer
I'm not the right person to ask this -- I just run it on whatever I happen to have. But I think sleep and wifi (for example) have issues with different hardware, so you'd have to do your homework. The FreeBSD handbook on freebsd.org is always very helpful to me. You can try it out with a live cd / thumbdrive to see how much supported hardware you've got. My Lenovo X1 from a couple years ago works for what I... Source: 11 months ago

  • Windows 10 finds Viruses in Kali Linux iso or VM image
Thanks. It was downloaded from official kali.org website. Source: 10 months ago
  • Resources needed.
Step 1: download the Kali image from kali.org Step 2: burn the image with Rufus app (windows) on a pen-drive (16gb would be a good choice). Source: 10 months ago
  • I have 2 versions of python (python3 and 3.11) and i can't seem to uninstall any of them ( i don't run kali on vmware)
Hi, thanks for the reply (: I just mentioned in the 1st comment above that I actually had some trouble burning the iso into my pen usb since the windows firewall assumed some files as trojan. I don't know if they're really trojan ( and why would an operative system would have been built by trojan since I downloaded it from kali.org ) or if windows firewall is just too above of it's head. • Desperate for advise! I’m a greenhorn.
I think you're in over your head tbh. I wouldn't fret about getting haxxed or anything. I mean we could spend all day talking about all the ways you could, but if you got the iso from kali.org and used best practices shown on their website, you'll be fine. Source: 12 months ago
  • No gui and unable to fetch
From what it looks like, you’re unable to resolve http://kali.org so this should fix it after you restart the service from the command I provided above. Let me know 👍🏼. Source: about 1 year ago
