I usually channel all the energy from the typo itch into looking at fonts and researching in local archives and books instead of buying fonts. This is mainly because I do work in Typo design. Of course, like you, sometimes I keep coming back to a certain typeface or font family that I yearn to use in graphic design or for a website. Dank mono annoys me except in one spot - conference presentation slides (where it still annoys me, but I can see it being useful). The italics as cursive is annoying - especially with the 's' that shows up in too many places.
