Some developers could be very busy or get caught up with other stuff and not hear about their accumulated funds before the "expire". Patreon cuts deep inside creators’ pockets
I think this is one of the problems flattr tries to solve. Instead of multiple micro transactions you make one larger transaction each month to flattr, who then divides it up to all the creators you want to support. I don't think you need to be a holder of both. I put my mom on my Wells Fargo account and she sent to my account. There is also https://wise.com/us/ . This one I have used to send to someones account in Vietnam. It does have slightly higher fee. But it goes straight into their account.
