I use RSS-to-Email then read them in my mail clients. Most things get routed to a few folders without notifications that I open when I want news. I use a dedicated RSS reader to keep up with sites I follow, but there are sites like Feedrabbit or Mailbrew that offer RSS to Email services. They can subscribe to multiple sites and send a digest email when there are new posts. Source: over 2 years ago
