  • What’s the best way to upgrade an iMac Mid-2011 model?
It is not clear what you are trying to do, but RAM for a 2011 will be dirt cheap and easy to install, you can max is out very affordably. You may have 2 slots or 4 slots, 8 GB in each will be real nice if supported. (check everymac.com). Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Is my price too high?
I use the everymac.com website to compare the relative computing power of Macs. The Geekbench 5 section tells you the multicore scores to show you how much work they can do. The M1 mini is comparable to the 2020 iMac 27 with the i7-10700k CPU. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • What was the last Apple model before the G3?
Everymac.com is a far better resource for figuring out classic Apple product lines than Wikipedia. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • MP 4,1/5,1 Dual CPU Thermal Paste Replacement Help
The CPU's are held on by thermal paste, just carefully twist and seperate them. Clean themup both sides with de-natured alchohol, I use Methalated spirits, and wipe of the residue. They should just slot into place. Place the heat sinks over, locating diagonal corners, and tighten lightly using diagonal screws. There used to be two types of processor about, with and without lid. • No college for me
One last note, I bought a MacBook Air from 2015 last year on clearance for $195 from this place. The battery is great and the only issue it had was some dings and a USB port working intermittently. Otherwise it does absolutely everything I need and is a delight to use. • Computer for CS
You don't need anything super powerful honestly. I made the transition from Windows to Mac about halfway through my degree and thought it was way better because it's lightweight/battery life/lasted longer than my HP but you'll be fine either way. MacOS is more similar to Linux, which a lot of programmers end up using professionally. A price range would help make a precise recommendation though. macofalltrades.com... Source: over 2 years ago
  • What kind of Mac for my wife?
You could look at macofalltrades.com or such for an older 13" MB Air. See if you can keep it to 2014 (supports Big Sur) or 2015 (supports Monterey). That could get her by for a year or two. Source: over 2 years ago
