  • Interface Complexity
The scatterplot interface, while engaging, can be confusing and difficult to navigate for some users, especially those who prefer a more traditional list or grid format.
  • Limited Mobile Experience
The website is not particularly optimized for mobile use, which can make on-the-go exploration cumbersome.
  • Dependence on Spotify
Because the platform heavily relies on Spotify data and links, users who do not use Spotify may find the site less useful or engaging.
  • Inconsistent Genre Samples
Some genre samples may not accurately represent the broader category, which can lead to misinterpretation or a poor initial impression of what the genre has to offer.

  • Reputation Issues
Gab has gained a reputation as a platform for extremist views and controversial figures, which can deter mainstream users and advertisers.
  • Risk of Deplatforming
Both app stores and service providers have previously deplatformed Gab due to content on the site, leading to potential accessibility issues for users.

  • Jellyfin as a Spotify Alternative
Spotify has not viewed itself as a music company for longer than that. It's a platform for audio. And, while there are still music first people at the company, they are not in the power positions that they used to be. The transition didn't start when they laid off Glenn MacDonald, but that sort of cemented it. They had already gutted curation before that and by this time you were far more likely to find people... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago
  • The Ghosts in the Machine
No, you didn't really have all the music: you were very limited by what was playing on the radio (fully influenced and often paid for by large labels) and in the local record store. Now you can chose to listen to almost anything: https://everynoise.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago

  • A Music Map of every genre and subgenre
A map to me is something that organizes something spatially, two-dimensionally, like everynoise[1], which I don't really see here. [1]: https://everynoise.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • When do we stop finding new music?
I see this in https://everynoise.com/#updates > 2024-01-05 status update: With my layoff from Spotify on 2023-12-04, I lost the internal data-access required for ongoing updates to many parts of this site. Most of this, as a result, is now a static snapshot of what, for now, will be the final state from the site's 10-year history and evolution, hosted on my own server. Some pieces may get disabled and reenabled... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago

  • This dude made an alternative Reddit on a blockchain. Crazy
I don't understand how you can stop spam yet not have the structures in place to censor forbidden views or opinions. Without admin moderation you get 50 million flavours of porn (like old Usenet servers) some of which will be illegal porn, a massive slice of QAnon and conspiracy (like Odyssee and gab.ai), information and propaganda useful to terrorists (like the old totse.com) and dark web drug markets. • Bring back Internet comment sections!
This already exists in the "Dissenter browser" made by the folks over at gab.ai. This could work as a third party extension, but direct support from Brave would instantly draw controversy as it's perceived that the only reason Dissenter exists is to support toxic radical right wingers. • I agree with them, but I can see liberals hate for the second season in this post
I feel that there is still space for a platform for content creators which is away from any restrictions. I was talking to a lawyer friend of mine about drafting a user agreement which makes it impossible for anyone to sue any content creator or the platform, or for any government or group to force removal of content. but in the end we figured that we would need a back to back agreement with our service...
