Engram is an AI-powered grammar checker, paraphraser, and translator optimized for non-native English speakers. Our proprietary AI helps you with every part of your writing, including grammar, word choice, sentence structure, natural phrasing, and style.

Unlike other writing tools that are optimized for native speakers, Engram is designed to handle the complex language errors of non-native English speakers. Whether you’re an international student studying abroad or a professional working at a global company, Engram empowers you to communicate confidently and effectively.

Our three main tools:

🚀 Grammar Checker: Not sure if you used the right preposition, or if you used a certain word in an awkward way? The Grammar Checker fixes common mistakes made by non-native speakers and also provides sentence-level suggestions based on context.

🚀 Paraphraser: Want to elevate your vocabulary or add variety to your sentences? The Paraphraser helps you rephrase sentences and sound even more natural. Choose from 7 different styles including Standard, Formal, Academic, Casual, Shorter, Longer, and Easier.

🚀 Translator: On days your brain just won't stay in English mode, or for those tricky idioms that are nearly impossible to translate, use the translator to get translations that make sense and get your message across clearly.

Other tools:

🚀 Word Counter: Need to see how long your text is? The Word Counter counts characters and words, measures reading time, and also provides readability scores.

🚀 Resume Builder: Want to make your resume stand out? The Resume Builder finds the best verbs and phrases to highlight your accomplishments while also suggesting job-specific jargon that is tailored to your industry.

Best AI Paraphraser for Non-Native English Speakers: Grammarly, QuillBot, Paraphrasing Tool, Paraphraser.io, Wordtune, Engram (2023)
Of course, the aptness of the results of each paraphraser will be dependent on the written work's purpose and the writer's intention. But, if you are looking for a paraphraser that ensures that your meaning gets delivered and makes you sound like a native, Engram would be the route to go.

Best AI Proofreader for Non-Native English Speakers: Grammarly, QuillBot, Engram, ProWritingAid, Ginger, Trinka [Updated 2023]
Engram is the only AI proofreader on this list optimized for non-native speakers to produce the most natural phrasing. The user experience is more detail-oriented, as users can access all basic and advanced suggestions, see the color-coded changes to the text after accepting suggestions, and even undo suggestions. Suggestions also come with similar sentences that show the...

AI Proofreaders: What They Are & What The Top Tools Are
Engram is a good AI proofreading tool since it lets you correct all errors in one click. Also, the examples it gives you enable learning. This can help you avoid the same mistakes in the future. But please note that you need to upgrade to the Premium version. The daily limit of 300 words would not be enough for professional writing.

G2 Ratings: A wrote on G2, expressing their love for LanguageTool. They said they love it because it is an open-source style and grammar checker. Also, they loved how LanguageTool supports many languages.
15 Grammarly Alternatives to Fix Your Writing Mistakes in 2021 ( Spelling, Punctuation, and More)
LanguageTool has a free version that brings a reliable error checker and informs you regarding basic typos errors. The tool also has a premium version, which is packed with features. The Premium version starts at $14.99 per month.
112 Best Chrome Extensions You Should Try (2021 List)
LanguageTool is an alternative to both Grammarly and ProWritingAid. It checks and corrects most of the writing mistakes such as grammar and spelling. It supports more than 25 languages. If you use Google Docs, there is an addon of LanguageTool as well. But the extension works fine. Nonetheless, I found the premium version more helpful than the free version.

  • What do we say to typos? Not today!
I was already used to wiggly lines in my favorite IDE IntelliJ and really missed the spell and grammar check capabilities in other editors especially when writing something in the browser. A colleague told me that IntelliJ is using LanguageTool since I'm pretty satisfied with the analysis inside it. Therefore, I looked around on GitHub for a way of hosting my own LanguageTool server. I came across this... - Source: dev.to / about 2 years ago
  • Need help with writing (pleaseeeeee )
Hi. Maybe before posting on r/WriteStreakGerman and getting a proper correction you could check the writing on these sites (LanguageTool, Duden-Mentor), to catch some of the possible errors. Regarding shyness, put anonymity to good use. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Grammarly for german
The LanguageTool extension is decent and picks up on a lot of mistakes, but nowhere close to all of them. For example, it will identify if you wrote an article that can never go with a given noun (like "der Auto"), but will not recognize a case error (like using "das Auto" in Dativ). It will also often pick up on things like comma mistakes. Source: over 2 years ago
