Well, OVH lost around 200 racks on a fire with no backups, which amounts probably for some petabytes of data from LOTS of people, and people were left with pretty much nothing. Why don't you use Dynamic-DNS like https://duckdns.org and have the pi send your IP to the DDNS with script automated to run every 30 mins in crontab. That way you don't need anything like what you talked about and your DDNS would update from the very same pi that you are running the pi on! Source: almost 3 years ago
