I had to use a different one recently to get a hold of some live music for my dad that wasn't available literally anywhere else. It was called DC++. All of this "it's IRC + (X)DCC but different!" stuff reminds me so much of XKCD #927. Each one is sure their shit is the best, but there's 50 different options and none of them are compatible. 🙄. Where it really starts to shine is when you combine it with other CLI & TUI applications. I use openSSH, rtorrent and Tmux (or GNU screen) in combination with PIA's manual script to achieve a remote "seedbox". I don't need to access my computers when I'm away from my local network but one has the potential by creating their own local VPN or opening up the port to their seedbox. Source: over 2 years ago
