Most Likely scenario is that your client is using a service with something like cPanel setup. This is where they would get or set-up access credentials for you to then transfer the files via sftp. If you are really serious about keeping up-to-date (and probably few people are), then "watch" the page from which you downloaded the appimage with some notifier such as [FluxGuard[(https://fluxguard.com/). Because AppImages are so self-contained, you really don't need to update them unless you are needed new features or encounter bugs since updates to your system will almost never affect them.
