Emojis in Chrome (and other browsers too actually) used to display the true classic Segoe UI Emoji font (ex: if I go to getemoji.com, these used to display the same emojis as Word; copy paste from that site to Word looked the same), but just a couple months ago something changed. About 7, if you're thinking about proving to other users that your display name is your legal name, I have not seen this in Matrix itself. Of course, server administrators may require an identity verification to let you register an account (e.g. university, governement), but that's handled by them, not Matrix.
