I am using a free email server (cock.li) and it is kind of slow. The config file works to compose and send messages from within the program. When I send a message from the command line, however, I get an "alarm clock" message, and the message doesn't send. I have found that "alarm clock" is a timeout, and I know this server is slow. Use briar. Use LineageOS without gapps (aka without Google Play Services). Obviously don't use Meta or Google apps, because that's where the backdoors are for governments.
