CleanTalk is a great plugin that's only about $12 per year, and I've read some people on this sub say that they use it along with Antispam Bee, which is free. It uses Clean Talk's servers to do all the spam detection, so it won't slow down your site. Your example is actually the only time I've ever seen this side-by-side-style login page with the form on the right. Mailchimp, Quickbooks, and Alliant CU, for example, use the same layout as OP.
