The trick to cheapest flights is to use for example (cheaptickets.com) see what airlines they found were cheapest and then directly book on that airlines website in stead of the intermediary. Saves me anywhere from 20 to 50 euros on my flights every time and I doubt Travala can do better than the actual airlines offering, they're just doing better than cheaptickets. Depending on where you end up staying, consider flying to Burbank (BUR). airport. Its vastly smaller than LAX, so quicker to get in and out of, shorter lines at security, etc. And its closer than LAX to places like Hollywood. If CT means New York metro area, you can get nonstop to Burbank on JetBlue from JFK. Otherwise likely looking at at least one stop, but I imagine there's no non-stops to LAX either unless...
