I think the metric that will determine which coins are 'going somewhere' will be there utility. I've been living off Bitcoin since 2013 (thanks to Gyft in the earlier days) and I spend crypto daily on things like hotels (cheapair.com) & food (Bitrefill). If a big retailer creates their own coin or adopts one, that could be the spark needed for big growth. Source: almost 3 years ago

Interestingly, I had a brief look for open source alternatives and found that KDE Itinerary[0] may do a similar thing, and that the same code has been re-used in a Nextcloud Mail extension[1]. I don't use either so haven't been able to test directly yet.
