Yeah it's good :D You can get the 2004 freeware version at cavestory.org, and cave story+ is on steam and switch (although the switch version has more features such as native widescreen and 2 extra soundtracks). Source: 10 months ago
IMO, the soundtrack and translation are both better in the cavestory.org version. To me, the soundtrack point is very important. Source: 11 months ago
Cavestory is free if you get it from the website cavestory.org. Source: about 1 year ago
If you're only looking for the story and main game itself, go for freeware on cavestory.org. Source: over 1 year ago
I got the good ending, what do I do after the ending screen? Is there a way to exit it? If I exit and start a new game (didn't got best ending because... I always fell down on the waterway house door :( ), will it count I got it? I'm playing the aeon genesis spanish translation from cavestory.org (the vagrante traducciones one), so yeah. Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup. Free roguelike with lots of options, but uncomplicated. You can run it on just about anything. Source: over 1 year ago
Also, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is a decent pick. It's free, so hard to beat the price. There's also no music or audio at all, which means I can listen to my own music or a podcast while I rampage through the dungeon as a Troll Berzerker, pulling apart goblins like they're made of monkey bread. Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup is a good one. It is a classic-style roguelike that does not feature sound effects or music of its own. I will frequently queue up podcasts to listen to while I take a run or two. Source: over 2 years ago
If you're down for an older-style roguelike, Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup is free and it's optimal for a keyboard that has a 10-key (numpad) for movement. There is an endgame, but it takes a lot of luck and doing to reach it. I just poke at the game on occasion to see how far I get. Never been within any reasonable distance of the end. DCSS or Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup as it's known in full is considered to be one of the best roguelikes out there. DCSS originally released in 2006, it's a fork ofLinley's Dungeon Crawl aka. Crawl (1997) which again is based of off modified NetHack code (1987). Source: over 2 years ago
