For used buying, I picked a Toyota Corolla LE 2018 with 53k miles which is listed for $19k on carfax.com . I am assuming that this car OTD when I go and talk to the dealership will be $22k. Next, I plugged in the VIN of this car in carvana.com mentioned miles as 70k and got a quote. The offer was just under $12k. So the cost over 1.5 years is $10k, which works out to $555. I don't know how long it'll take for this too cool down. It hasn't yet afaik (check carvana prices), but likely will with recession and covid wrapping up. 5-6 years ago you could get away with way below MSRP, but getting back to that may also take a while. And 2012 Hyundai can still be considered an older one. Yet, authors found quite new vehicles to be vulnerable...that's why it's a bit tricky to answer whether any car is susceptible :) And your Hyundai is manufactured where? You can check that if you get your VIN number (from the booklet of the vehicle, or from the D pillar, or from the windscreen), type it into an online service like vindecoderz.com, and it will... If anyone can help me figure that out, the VIN is KL1PD5CE3DK073940. Here's the VIN card info sheet. The most accurate "VIN decoder" info I got was from vindecoderz.com which seems to correctly identify everything (engine, transmission, etc). Source: over 1 year ago

If you look on that vindecoderz.com they give pretty good info on the work done to it. But its still not clear to me what Honda did to fix it. But it has the mileage of when it was worked on. Source: almost 3 years ago
