2020 will be a big year for online childcare — here are 7 startups to watch
Over the weekend, media and digital brand holding company IAC announced that it had agreed to buy Care.com, which describes itself as “the world’s largest online family care platform,” in a deal valued at about $500 million. Despite being the best-known marketplace in the United States for finding child and senior caregivers, Care.com has spent the past nine months dealing...
The Best Babysitting Apps for Finding Somebody to Watch Your Kid
Sitter assumes you and your friends aren’t among the 16 percent of parents that hoard their babysitter’s contact information to keep friends from poaching, according to Care.com. Whether you’re looking for a teen babysitter, college sitter, or a seasoned nanny, the app enables you to create a private network of other parents and trusted babysitters, so you can find new...
5 Questions with Isabela Nunez and Silvia Travesani of Campanizer
Travesani: We have competition. Other companies in the space, like Sawyer, Care.com Explore (formerly Galore), and ActivityHero, have focused on provider registration technology and activity directories. Our emphasis on parent coordination leads to faster growth, higher activity registration rates and drives the sought-after word-of-mouth lead generation for activity providers.

Best Dog Walking App: Rover vs Wag vs Barkly Pets
Rover.com, the popular pet sitting portal, can help connect you with independent dog walkers near you, regardless of where you live. Rover is akin to Uber for dog walking apps regarding its popularity. Their site is easy to navigate, and everything from pricing to availability is upfront.
Best 6 Sites Like Care.com for Finding Caregivers
Rover.com was founded in 2011, is like Care.com, and is very similar to DogVacay. It helps pet owners connect with dog sitters so their pet doesn’t have to spend time at a kennel. Owners can read reviews of sitters before hiring them, and sitters are screened by the company before they’re allowed to take pet-sitting jobs on Rover.com. Rover also provides insurance for pet...

  • Child Care! Seems like no one is available or all daycares are booked until September.
Care.com helped us out pretty easily. Post the job and wait for responses. One thing to note - I see people all the time post that they want help with light chores, meal prep, sometimes laundry.. Yadda yadda. The reality is that fast food restaurants even pay $20 an hour now so if you ask for that, expect to pay for it. As an example, we were paying a night nanny $22 an hour to be awake during the night for us a... - Source: Reddit / about 7 hours ago
  • Paying Nannies under the table
My wife follows this new mother podcast and supposedly upwards of 200k childcare workers have left their profession. We posted to care.com, NextDoor and Facebook and all we got were 3 requests. - Source: Reddit / 1 day ago
  • jobs search
Hey! Does anyone know of any places hiring in iv/on campus? I've been told updating your care.com profile works if you're fine with babysitting/nannying positions but I would prefer something else first (don't want to expose a family!) I really need a job and I'll most likely be around for summer so looking for a long-term commitment as well. thanks! - Source: Reddit / about 9 hours ago
  • Anyone hire a nanny recently?
My experience with SitterCity is that it has a lot of the rejects from care.com. We didn't have great luck there. I'm sure there are some good nannies on there, it just doesn't seem to be as good as care.com. Care.com also does background checks upfront now, which is a lot better. - Source: Reddit / 1 day ago
  • Anyone hire a nanny recently?
Finding a nanny right now is a nightmare. We finally found a great one and we pay $20 per hour for two kids ages 4 and 2. We use Poppins Payroll (it's a little cheaper then the care.com one), so we pay our half of payroll taxes which is 7.65% or $1.53 per hour so our total cost is $21.53 per hour plus payroll expenses. We also include paid sick days and holidays off. Lastly, we pay the Federal mileage rate of 56... - Source: Reddit / 1 day ago

  • My lonely, depressed mother is killing me, and I'm all out of ideas.
Would she be interested & able to do something like start a dog walking or pet sitting business, sign up for a website like rover.com, or work part time at someplace dog related like a pet store, boarding, wash, park, etc? It would give her mind something else to obsess on, and hopefully also be good exercise, which I've read is always the best medicine for most anything that ails us. Good luck whatever may... - Source: Reddit / 5 days ago

  • Downtown Dog Boarding Help
I would check out rover.com, saved us in a pinch an we found a really good guy on there. - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
  • Boarding facilities with no overnight staff?
We elected to look on rover.com. We found a young family that offers daycare (playing with their 2 dogs) and boarding. My pup went there once a week for about a month then we asked if they would be willing to board my pup. It was a little more expensive than the doggy daycare boarding but well worth it. My pup is treated like she is part of the family there, so it was a better experience. Obviously you have to be... - Source: Reddit / about 2 months ago
