I recently bootstrapped a company and we wanted some nice looking default images for our users that didn't upload their own and we found some out there but not too many with the goal we were looking achieve — other than boringavatars.com (where this project gets its inspiration!). So, I don't see the "new" in NFTs, they have been here for quite some time - creary.net is an existing platform, where you can upload / buy / sell digital art for some years now - but NFT adds standardization and wide adoption of the concept. Source: over 2 years ago
