My company instituted Bonusly and honestly its been great to have a system similar to what you are talking about. A way to give people 5-10 credits of recognition publicly so that it can add up to a $10 gift card after 10-20 "gifts" so far has been a great way to encourage each other to be helpful. Some apps offer a practice mode in which you are given a specific grid that definitely needs that technique that you are trying to practice. One of those is my website sudoku.coach.
