My company instituted Bonusly and honestly its been great to have a system similar to what you are talking about. A way to give people 5-10 credits of recognition publicly so that it can add up to a $10 gift card after 10-20 "gifts" so far has been a great way to encourage each other to be helpful. ReCaptcha doesn't work well any more, and AntiSpam Bee seems to be letting more spam through as well lately. I've switched a few clients over to Cleantalk and it's quite solid. Source: over 2 years ago

CleanTalk is a great plugin that's only about $12 per year, and I've read some people on this sub say that they use it along with Antispam Bee, which is free. It uses Clean Talk's servers to do all the spam detection, so it won't slow down your site.
