My family rented from a website that id call the airbnb of boats.. boatsetter.com. We got a triple hulled pontoon boat in slidell and that thing hauled ass.. Much more fun than I would have given it credit for and the whole family was able to ride. Been boating the D River for 30 years, you will not find a boat rental place on the river. No operator will send out an inexperienced captain on the river, even if you know what you are doing the river can be tricky, and dangerous if you do not have wheel time. Depending on where you end up staying, consider flying to Burbank (BUR). airport. Its vastly smaller than LAX, so quicker to get in and out of, shorter lines at security, etc. And its closer than LAX to places like Hollywood. If CT means New York metro area, you can get nonstop to Burbank on JetBlue from JFK. Otherwise likely looking at at least one stop, but I imagine there's no non-stops to LAX either unless...
