The only silver lining is that bitdegree is run by a doxed team with a registered license, which means that they are subject to EU jurisdiction and the team members are easy to be traced out. Before making a large commitment, I'd try out programming, and see if it is something you enjoy and have an aptitude for. There's a large number of online resources for it.
