bipp is a modern business intelligence platform that lets you explore billions of records in real-time based on trusted data models. Our enterprise-grade, in-database, cloud BI platform was developed to save data and BI analysts’ time and develop insights faster. It leverages SQL and is powered by the bippLang data modeling language, which supports collaboration, git-based version control, and re-usable data models.

Business users can use bipp to build and explore ad hoc reports on their own. They can slice and dice data and create visualizations, with updates reflected in real-time. Insights can then be easily shared across their organizations.

D3 allows you to bind arbitrary data to a Document Object Model (DOM), and then apply data-driven transformations to the document. For example, you can use D3 to generate an HTML table from an array of numbers. Or, use the same data to create an interactive SVG bar chart with smooth transitions and interaction.

D3 is not a monolithic framework that seeks to provide every conceivable feature. Instead, D3 solves the crux of the problem: efficient manipulation of documents based on data. This avoids proprietary representation and affords extraordinary flexibility, exposing the full capabilities of web standards such as HTML, SVG, and CSS. With minimal overhead, D3 is extremely fast, supporting large datasets and dynamic behaviors for interaction and animation. D3’s functional style allows code reuse through a diverse collection of official and community-developed modules.

6 JavaScript Charting Libraries for Powerful Data Visualizations in 2023
Depending on your requirements, the best JavaScript library is D3.js, as it’s by far the most customizable. However, it’s also really complex and difficult to master. Plus, it’s not as compatible with TypeScript as it is with JavaScript, which can be off-putting for some developers. If you’d prefer a less complex library that you can use with TypeScript, ECharts, and...

15 JavaScript Libraries for Creating Beautiful Charts
When we think of charting today, D3.js is the first name that comes up. Being an open source project, D3.js definitely brings many powerful features that were missing in most of the existing libraries. Features like dynamic properties, Enter and Exit, powerful transitions, and syntax familiarity with jQuery make it one the best JavaScript libraries for charting. Charts in...

  • How do you get good enough at SQL that it no longer feels overwhelming or exhausting?
You can take any DBMS and use its SQL docs, I recommend PostgreSQL SQL docs which [i guess] is the 9th chapter of PostgreSQL docs. You can also do a SQL course at bipp.io. Source: over 2 years ago

  • Can Looker make something like this? 1 thru 7 on the left is a dimension. I want a visualization that can display time-series data for each entry in this dimension column
To build such a dashboard, you can also use Bipp Analytics as a more affordable Looker alternative - the entire platform and its bippLang data modeling language are very similar to Looker and LookML - here is how such a dashboard looks like in it: https://bipp.io/img/home/Designed-for-SQL-Analysts-from-the-ground-up.png. Yep, Evidence is doing good work. We were most directly inspired by VitePress; we spent months rewriting both D3’s docs (https://d3js.org) and Observable Plot’s docs (https://observablehq.com/plot) in VitePress, and absolutely loved the experience. But we wanted a tool focused on data apps, dashboards, reports — observability and business intelligence use cases rather than documentation.
