I know that you're trying to send USD to get GBP, but if you ever find a need to convert from GBP to USD, check out Atlantic Money ( https://atlantic.money/gb/en/ ), as it seems to be cheaper than all options named (Wise, HSBC Global Money, Revolut etc.) (Flat £3 no matter the amount sent). Beyond 2FA, some type of chaumian cash like https://taler.net/en/ might help too. But the problem is really downgrade attacks. There are multiple payment systems (bank wire, check, credit card ) and if there is one insecure way to make payments, then the whole system is broken. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
