I highly recommend checking out Elo touchscreens or displays or Sharp displays if you are not needing interactive content. In terms of hardware behind the scenes, we always recommend going the route of Chromebox devices. They have a spendier price tag, but are work the ease of use, easy updates, and just overall user interface they offer, I promise they would be worth it long term in terms of time saving and... /u/slugshead mentioned Xibo. They've discontinued Pi-compatible versions but run on a lot of other things. Player(client) licenses per major version are perpetual, or at least very long. I've seen some weird issues with them, don't know if it's fixed (mostly has to do with display scaling, probably related to the consumer-grade smart TVs I have to run it on).
