ARCHLine.XP Reviews

  1. Switching from ArchiCAD to ARCHLineXP

We switched to ARCHLine.XP after exploring using ArchiCAD then Revit and exploring a few others. There was an initial struggle to get our minds around the interface and to it took a little time to redo our templates and set up our design office the way we liked. It had taken us many years to perfect things in our former software and it took about 2 weeks to transfer those settings to ARCHLineXP but it has been well worth it. With only a few exceptions such as creating new window types ARCHLine.XP is significantly faster and easier and more flexible for us and the initial pain of switching (which was great) is paying off every time we use the ARCHLine.XP so the experience has been a rewarding one all round.

👍 Pros:    Better in 3d|Faster to operate|Multiple views open at the same time|More compatible with other software|Far less expensive|Great support from the developers|No need to buy extra modules|Feels like archicad, revit, autocad and sketchup rolled into one|Heaps of training materials free|Similar enough to make the transition quite quick|Super easy to import objects from other sources|Floor and level management really good and easy to change|Best roof and stair routines we've seen|Very flexible wall layers|Great command finder function for new or accational users|Model making function|Link to its own live rendering software really cool|Really easy to customise the content of the libraries|Really easy to teach new students how to use it compared with others
👎 Cons:    Less attractive interface imo|Unusual windows shapes difficult to create|Menus can be a little too buried|Inistial backgound colour (pale yellow) looks old fashioned but can be changed|Rebuilding a complex 3d model can take a long time|Library content not localised to our country so had to add a local template before we began
