A paid tool in this direction is APSE (https://apse.io) which bills itself as a personal search engine that OCRs intermittent screencaps. I loved the idea, but in practice it lacked polish. Maybe APSE is what you're looking for [1]. A while back the founder sent me a link after one of my blog posts hit HN. It's a tool that continuously records your desktop and offers text search of everything through OCR. I personally found the idea interesting, but I was too afraid to ever try it out. Are you using all extractors when saving a page? I tried ArchiveBox and Shiori, but neither stuck for some reason. Shiori is the way to go, it's a single binary written in Go which makes it easy as hell to move and backup. It's also a resource-efficient option. The downside is that it doesn't have a mobile app, no Kobo/Kindle support, and no offline caching capabilities. Source: over 1 year ago

I use https://github.com/go-shiori/shiori. It has a reader and archive mode. Go and uses a SQLite database, so it also has search. I've had it running for a few years, but don't use it much, so can't really speak to how well searching performs. Source: over 1 year ago
