I use the OpenWeather API to receive the current temperature data by providing the latitude and longitude coordinates as query strings in the request. A Lambda function invokes the weather API and sends the current temperature value as a custom metric to CloudWatch. In search of a program like ScreenCloud that allows you to display messages, alerts, weather, time, etc. But also allows you to set alarms to indicate start/break times and interrupts the regular flow of information on the screen to display a message and play audio before returning to the regular display playlist.
