  • [TOMT] [2D COMPUTER GAME] [2012- 2014] A game I played where you can clone your character and complete puzzles with said clones
No fighting, just puzzle-solving mixed with parkour. It was on one of those sites that was similar to abcya.com and you could make clones which could either stand still, crouch, or run by making a clone while running. You could even use your clone that was crouching as a spring to jump higher. There were levers and moving platforms as well. You could even make a clone run infinitely between two clones that were... • Homeschooling for upcoming year, input needed.
Take time to experiment with different things to see what goes well for your family. My kids enjoy Khan Academy, I get worksheets from education.com , we use starfall.com and abcya.com. I suggest a lot of board games, learning though gaming is great. If you kid has gotten into "cheating" I suggest the Cheater Monopoly game, just for an outlet. My son is going into 5th grade. We have at least 7 versions of monopoly... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Need help finding a curriculum
Just look for fun activities for preschool level, hands on things. Follow holidays/seasons to do activities about those meaningful times in your lives. There are a lot of fun online sights like starfall.com, abcya.com, education.com (games and printables). Starfall is $30 for a year, we love it still. You tube has lots of songs to learn, and even learning how to play instruments, etc. Duolingo is something I'm... Source: about 1 year ago

  • GNU Units
I personally use Qalculate (https://qalculate.github.io/), specifically their CLI version for this purpose. I'm not sure how well it compares to GNU Units, but it works well enough for my needs; and it's fairly simple using English-like syntax. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Ask HN: Do you still use a hand held/desktop calculator?
On the terminal, I use `qalc`[1]. It's a nice natural language calculator that does arithmetic, solves quadratic equations/linear systems, does unit conversions and even a bit of calculus. Combine it with a cli graphing tool and you can do pretty cool things. Anything more complicated I'm probably ok with latency, so I open up wolframalpha and enter it there, again, in natural language. [1]... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
