First option for many people might be cmder. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • why does kali take so long to download?
If you are downloading Kali from Chrome, please don't. Copy the download link and use wget. For whatever reason, Chrome caps our downloads for files at or greater than 1gb. I'm guessing you are on Windows, which I know wget does not come by default. In that case download CMDER which comes with some UNIX commands pre-installed. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Error: "Unable to execute file: powershell.exe" while installing FFAIO, then Blade and Sorcery
One thing that comes to mind is that I have Cmder installed, and though I haven't used it in a while, I believe it can replace Powershell windows, but it's not set as the default terminal at the moment. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Encoding issues, use of non-Windows terminal and bcolours - few questions and issues
Then, I tried searching through terminals, and found, for example, cmder. When I ran my game through it (by dragging over), it worked for colours - not for encoding, though. Source: about 2 years ago
  • using git-posh or/and oh-my-posh with Command Prompt(cmd, not Powershell)
Recently switched from cmder to new windows terminal, and after hours of searching on internet I was not able to find anything helpful, all what I want is to set up cmd inside new windows terminal to show git branches just like it's achievable for powershell(eg like this). • mmm window bad
I use xplorer2 instead of windows explorer, cmder instead of the built in command line, also irfanview and a couple more handy apps to replace/extend basic functionality. I understand that Linux might offer better tools out of the box in some areas, but when I last tried Linux Mint - which is supposed to be the user friendly one, right? - and it couldn't connect with my Android for simple file transfers, I came to... • Ask HN: What tools make using Windows more bearable (for Linux folk)?
If possible, get Windows 10 Pro. It gives you access to the Group Policy Editor - not available in Win 10 Home edition - which is where you can turn off things like telemetry and auto updates. That should help you get rid of most annoyances. You can manually clear out your start screen so that pressing the Win key just pops up your wallpaper and lets you type to search for programs and files. Make sure to install... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Will my path be Window's downfall?
Just download cmder https://cmder.net/ Or gitbash https://gitforwindows.org/ If you're doing the JavaScript path you don't need to worry about VMs, gitbash or cmder allow you to run unix commands on Windows, and will save you a lot of headbanging. Source: over 2 years ago

  • Rails app fails to work after Node Upgrade
Short history. I had installed CMDER from https://cmder.net/. In my efforts to configure it, I fubar'd something so I uninstalled it. Then I reinstalled it - but then realized I installed it at a place I didn't want it. So, uninstall, reinstall again. At one point I installed it under a folder cmdr vs cmder. In one of my attempts, I edited the registry without a registry backup. Didn't seem like a big deal... Source: over 2 years ago
