For avoidance of doubt :-) you can of course still access BatMUD by also other means (e.g. Telnet-protocol, TinyFugue, zMUD, Mudlet, BlowTorch or by any of the other game clients out there in the wild) at telnet bat.org 23 (or by utilizing a high-port, 2023).
