I know I'm in the minority, but I really like anidb. It's at its heart a database, so it's comprehensive in terms of information which I find MAL often lacks. Cast, crew, music, etc is all really accessible, and tracking shows you watch is simple. It's also not cluttered with things I don't care about, there are no ads or links to random blogs or news articles or merch sites. Source: 14 days ago
AniDb The most detailed database on anime with a longer history than MyAnimeList. Source: 14 days ago
AniDB? Not sure if they have reviews there, I just know that's one of the sites I always link to when hosting rewatches that you didn't mention. Source: 19 days ago
If anything, for complete anime database (and basic comments too), use oldest, still working and the most complete anidb.net in the meanwhile. Source: 23 days ago
Trakt for TV & Movies Anidb or anilist for anime HowLongToBeat for games GoodReads for books. Source: 25 days ago
Try going through the tags on each character's anidb.net page, and looking for characters with the same tags in the advanced character search feature. Source: 25 days ago
I think https://anidb.net is the most "detailed" site for that, but I mainly use https://anilist.co. Source: 30 days ago
I usually use anidb for anime relation charts. Source: about 2 months ago
INFO: I am using anime-titles provided by anidb.net (it has titles for each id/anime), I also was able to convert it to a dictionary and a list. Source: 3 months ago
I'm not familiar with the Free! franchise, but you could try looking up the specific entry on anidb, I don't think they list the full OST, but they generally list OP/ED/insert songs as well as some other tracks with vocals, character songs, etc. Source: 3 months ago
I don't know about "filtering out" shows like in an automatic way, but you can just look up shows on anidb and browse the tags. They have tags for ecchi, nudity and an assortment of other content so you can avoid stuff you don't want to see (or hunt down stuff you do). The tags have stars next to them too, so a show with just a little ecchi might have one star next to it while those that lean heavily into it... Source: 4 months ago
Might be worth going on anidb.net and sorting by show length and then taking your preference. Source: 5 months ago
It's literally displayed on the front page of anidb :) their stats widget says 14100 anime, and that site is regarded as being pretty comprehensive. As another poster mentioned, it does depend a little on definition, because separate seasons of the same anime get separate entries. So you may think of Chihayafuru as being one anime, but anidb (and most of the major sites, I think) counts it as three. Source: 5 months ago
For arguments like this, it's anidb to the rescue. You can just look up the song Hikaru Nara and it will tell you all the shows it has been used in. Long story short you are correct, it's only ever been used in YLiA, but now you can prove it. Source: 5 months ago
You can look up the show on anidb, scroll down to the Cast / Staff / Songs tabs and select "Songs" to see what they have listed. Some anime might only have the OP/ED there, but more popular shows often have a pretty comprehensive list of insert songs and even background music, and what episode(s) each song appears in. The standard for SXXEYY naming is using the TVDb as your reference database and to see how AniDB stuff is related to TVDb, you use xem. This is what's "ideal" when it comes to naming due to various reasons which are not really relevant here so I won't be expanding on those. Source: 5 months ago
This is your chance to ditch all those popular mainstream platforms and come join the cool kids underground over at anidb! Source: 6 months ago

Anidb.net has a pretty useful advanced search feature, so you can do things like limiting the character to "main" role, a specific gender, etc. Source: 6 months ago
It might be worth looking the characters up on anidb.net or anime-planet.com and checking their tags, and then looking up other characters who have those tags. Source: 6 months ago
So, I entered "muslim" and "female" into the advanced character search on anidb.net, and only one character pops up, who is not wearing a hijab in the picture. Perhaps she does in the anime sometimes, but I wouldn't count on it. Source: 6 months ago
