From my experience, focus on your business, not building a platform. Look for an easier solution instead. Buying saves costs in the long run. I was in two minds about the same thing as even I felt MailChimp would be too expensive for me. I did a bit of research and I found Show, a new email marketing platform, and it's been a great experience.
