6.1 is not officially the next lts, the latest lts is 5.15, 5.10, 4.19, 4.14, and 4.9 which will be dropped next month when a new one will be adopted. Whether it will be 6.0 or 6.1 we don't know yet, and if 6.1 appears to have more problems than expected it may be 6.2. Linus is the one that decides this, not the phoronix/ibm puppet pseudo-journalists. 6.1 is not as great as some may think it is, it was delayed because of the many issues that it had late on its development. Projected EOL (end of life) for 5.10 is later than any kernel, and 5.15 will be dropped next October, while 5.10 is expected to develop till 12/2026. If you read the release schedule on the kernel.org site, you can deduce that is the best kernel for years, while 5.15 is junk.
