Github pages can host websites for free. There are some limitations, but I don't think those will be an issue since it's not like you're trying to be the next twitter / facebook.

As for donations I'd suggest either buymeacoffee or ko-fi. Pretty simple to embed a button on the site. Stay away from patreon!
