Don't bother checking apartments.com or trulia.com or any of that, which is just a bunch of expensive housing and nothing really by individual owners. If you live in the area, I recommend walking around and searching for for rent signs which means that there are individual property owners looking to rent out their space, usually giving fairer prices and lenient on students in the area.
